Avian Courtship

A couple of pigeons courting. Who would have guessed? The male, spreading his tail feathers, is trying to get her attention. I had no idea until explained by an artist friend Greg that what the male pigeon is doing here is essentially the same thing a turkey or a peacock does when it spreads its tail feathers. When I was in second grade or so, filling in all those colors on the tail of a turkey illustration, I had no idea. Glad the art wasn’t censored.
